‘The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am , then I can change.’

Counselling

As your counsellor I offer my commitment to you and your wellbeing by providing a warm, safe and non-judgemental space. Here the hope is you will feel truly accepted for all that you are which in turn will enable you to accept all aspects of yourself.

It is my belief that you know yourself best, therefore I will not take the ‘expert’ position, claiming to know what is best for you, but will facilitate and support the work we do together directed by you and at a pace you feel comfortable working at.

How I work

A sunlit grassy path lined with green trees and bushes, forming a natural tunnel on a bright day.

I work with the belief that you are the expert on yourself and therefore I respect your thoughts and feelings. Everything you experience is valid and I will not judge you. My aim is to offer a friendly and non-judgmental space for you to talk openly and in confidence.

I will provide you with a safe space for whatever you feel comfortable bring to the session can be explored and reflected on. This is your journey and it is about trusting the process to find that next step or reflection.

Who I am

A smiling woman with short brown hair, wearing a patterned blue and white shirt and a floral necklace, standing outdoors with blurred green foliage in the background.

I bring with me my life experiences from living and working in a variety of cultures, working in education, in the charity sector, working with clients who presented a wide variety of Mental health issues, to empowering women with skills and tools to help themselves, to being a wife, daughter and mum.

My name is Julie or Jules, as some know me as, and am working in my third profession. The underlying link with all of them is that I like to support and help others from being a teacher, manager, trainer, assessor and to now a counsellor.

As a counsellor I am able to bring all of my loves into my profession. My love of the outdoors from the magic of the changing seasons, amazing wildlife all around, spectacular flowers to my favourite of being by or in the sea. This is why I have taken my counselling into my walk and talk sessions as I believe that nature and being outdoors can support not only our mental health but also can teach us so much.

My next love is being creative from designing resources, courses/workshops, drawing & sketching to writing (which I still struggle with) but all bring me great joy.

My other love is one of being supportive and helping others by giving others time and space to explore their thoughts, feelings and emotions whether that be for family, friends or clients. Also passing on information that I have picked up from my love of learning and allowing others to use that information as they wish.
